Adeleke’s aide, ex- Senate spokesperson clash at Osogbo Eid praying ground over sitting arrangement

A clash occurred between some aides of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and Dr. Ajibola Basiru, a former spokesperson of the Senate, at the Osogbo Eid praying ground on Wednesday over seating arrangements.

Dr. Basiru, accompanied by prominent Osogbo residents, arrived at the praying ground for the Eid-el Kabir prayers.

While waiting for the prayers to begin, individuals believed to be Governor Adeleke’s aides approached Basiru and informed him that he was sitting in the spot reserved for Adeleke. They asked him to move to the second row.

This instruction led to a dispute, but Basiru eventually relocated from his initial seat. At the time of this disagreement over the seating arrangement, Governor Adeleke had not yet arrived at the premises.

When Governor Adeleke arrived, he was escorted to the praying ground by Dr. Tunde Badmus, the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta. However, due to the ongoing resolution of the disagreement, Adeleke was unable to proceed to the front row.

Subsequently, the governor’s convoy was seen leaving the area before the prayers commenced.

Following the prayers, the police locked the entrance to the prayer ground, reportedly due to an order for the arrest of Basiru. However, the entrance was later reopened, and the participants were able to leave the premises.

Attempts to contact Basiru for comment were unsuccessful, as his phone was unanswered. Similarly, the spokesperson for the Osun Governor, Olawale Rasheed, could not be reached on his mobile phone.
