The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has appointed Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa as its new Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI).
This was revealed in a statement on Tuesday by the NAF Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, who noted that the appointment was approved by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar. Akinboyewa succeeds Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, who has been reassigned to NAF’s Civil-Military Relations Branch as Director of Coordination and Cooperation.
“This strategic realignment is part of NAF’s ongoing efforts to enhance its public and community engagement functions, ensuring a more effective interface with the public and key stakeholders,” the statement said.
As the new spokesperson, Akinboyewa will be responsible for overseeing NAF’s media relations, strategic communications, and information dissemination, with the goal of building public perception, maintaining transparency, and further strengthening public trust.
Air Commodore Akinboyewa is a graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy’s 43rd Regular Combatant Course and holds both a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Security and Strategic Studies from the same institution.
