The Nigerian Air Force has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for qualified Nigerians seeking to enlist as tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women.
The NAF, in a notice published on its X handle on Wednesday, said its online application portal would open from September 3 and remain accessible until October 14, 2026.
The notice read, “NAF Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026 Recruitment Exercise is scheduled to commence on 3 September 2026, with online registration opening for suitably qualified Nigerians interested in joining the Service as Tradesmen/Women and Non-Tradesmen/Women.
“The registration is FREE OF CHARGE, and prospective applicants are advised to carefully review the eligibility requirements and application guidelines before submitting their applications.”
Applicants seeking full details have been advised to visit the Force’s recruitment portal at https://nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng.
According to the NAF, applicants for tradesmen/women positions must be between 18 and 27 years old by March 1, 2027, while those applying as non-tradesmen/women must be between 18 and 22 years old by the same date.
Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and meet the minimum height requirements of 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females.
They must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit and satisfy the NAF’s medical and employment requirements.
For tradesmen/women positions, applicants with ND or NCE qualifications must have obtained their certificates from accredited institutions. They must also possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS.
The NAF further stated that applicants seeking driving and other trades that require a Trade Test must have the relevant Trade Test certificate and meet the applicable SSCE requirements. Drivers must additionally possess a valid driving licence.
For non-tradesmen/women positions, applicants are required to have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in the relevant examinations. They must also possess Primary School Certificates and Secondary School Testimonials.
The Force said successful applicants would be required to complete an Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form.
According to the NAF, the attestation form may be signed by a military officer from the applicant’s state of origin who is not below the rank of Wing Commander in the NAF or an equivalent rank in the Nigerian Army or Navy.
It may also be signed by a police officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police or above, a substantive local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.
The attestation form must be submitted alongside the applicant’s passport photograph and a photocopy of the signatory’s driver’s licence, National Identity Card or international passport.
The Air Force said the zonal general aptitude test for successful applicants would take place on a date to be announced through the recruitment portal.
It added that only candidates who successfully pass the relevant stages would be invited for an interview.
