Air Peace said the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has not officially notified it of claims that some crew members tested positive for substances after an incident at Port Harcourt Airport on 13 July 2025.

In a statement signed by its management and posted on its official X account, the airline reaffirmed its commitment to safety, transparency, and compliance.

The statement read: “We have noted media reports on a purported NSIB preliminary report regarding the Port Harcourt incident. More than a month later, we have received no official communication from NSIB on such findings, despite crew alcohol testing being conducted within an hour of the incident.”

Air Peace said it regularly conducts drug and alcohol checks on its crew and enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy.

The airline explained that it grounded the captain involved for disregarding Crew Resource Management principles and ignoring the co-pilot’s go-around advice, not for alcohol use. It added that the co-pilot, who acted professionally, has since been cleared and reinstated by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
