Aiyedatiwa to receive APC certificate of return today

The All Progressives Congress (APC) plans to issue the certificate of return to the winner of the Ondo governorship primary election, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Monday.

The party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Duru, revealed this information to PUNCH Online on Sunday.

“Yes, the presentation of the certificate to Governor Aiyedatiwa will take place tomorrow (Monday) at the national secretariat in Abuja,” he told our reporter.

Duru did not specify whether the certificate of return for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa would be presented before, during, or after the National Working Committee’s meeting, which is also scheduled for Monday.

This announcement comes three days after the APC’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, urged the aspirants who were dissatisfied with the results of the primary election to support the governor, aiming for a unified front in the upcoming November 16 governorship election.

Governor Usman Ododo-led Primary Election Committee declared Aiyedatiwa the winner on Sunday following the poll conducted across all 18 local government areas of the state. However, the outcome has been disputed due to allegations of irregularities and violence at some polling stations.

In response, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim of Ondo South Senatorial District and five other aspirants have filed petitions challenging Aiyedatiwa’s victory. The other challengers include Olusola Oke, Folakemi Omogoroye, Olugbenga Edema, Jimi Odimayo, and Wale Akinterinwa, who are also calling for the annulment of the primary and the scheduling of a new one.
