Akwa Ibom CP authorizes the deployment of security to correctional facilities

Olatoye Durosinmi, the commissioner of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, has ordered the deployment of extra security officers to all of the state’s correctional facilities.

According to a statement made on Tuesday by the command’s public relations officer, Odiko Macdon, the CP authorized the deployment while on a two-day tour of Custodian facilities with Mr. Julius Ezugwu, the Controller of Corrections for the Nigerian Correctional Service in Akwa Ibom State.

The statement was titled, CP Olatoye Durosinmi assessed and rejiggered security at all Correctional facilities in Akwa Ibom’.

The CP cautioned officers in each of the facilities to be vigilant and courageous in the performance of their duties and advised them to report any suspicious movement to security agencies while claiming that the move is a proactive security step to avert “untoward incident” in the state.

Part of the statement read, “As a proactive security measure to prevent any untoward incident, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, Olatoye Durosinmi, has toured all correctional facilities located within the State at Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, Eket and Ikot Abasi.

“As a preventive measure, the CP ordered for the immediate deployment of more Police Personnel to boost the security situation in each of the facilities and warned the officers to be vigilant and courageous.

“While enjoining law abiding citizens to go about their lawful duties, he urged them to quickly report criminal and suspicious elements to Security Agencies or call any of the Command’s Emergency Hotlines: 08039213071, 08189243935, 08081388797.”
