Alaafin of Oyo’s fourth olori dies weeks after monarch’s death

A few months after Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, joined his ancestors, one of his queens, Olori Kafayat, is said to have died as well.

Though the cause of her death has yet to be revealed, the news broke late Friday night.

Mr. Bode Durojaye, Director of Media and Publicity at the Alaafin Palace, confirmed it on Saturday morning.

Olori Kafayat Adeyemi, who was the fourth Olori of the late Oba Adeyemi III, was the mother of Prince Adebayo Adeyemi (D’Gov), who is the chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Pensions Board.

Before her demise, she was popularly known as Iya Aguo or Iya Ibeji in the Oyo Kingdom.

Recall that Oba Adeyemi died on Friday, April 22 at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, after a brief illness at the age of 83.
