Nigerian pastor Abel Damina of Abel Damina Ministries International has sparked conversation by declaring that offerings and tithes collected in churches are meant for men, not God.
In a viral clip from a Sunday service sermon, Damina stated, “No offering goes to heaven. Every offering we collect is used by men. All the offerings we give to God go to men.”
The pastor explained that these funds are utilized by people and do not ascend to heaven as many believe.
Challenging widely held notions in church teachings, Damina addressed the rhetoric often used to promote tithing, alleging that preachers mislead congregants into believing their contributions directly impact divine intervention.
“Those tithe mongers who say the windows of heaven will open when you pay tithes are lying. The doors have been open since Jesus rose from the dead,” he said.
Damina further alleged hypocrisy among certain clergy members, claiming that while they urge congregants to tithe, they themselves do not tithe. “They collect from everyone but don’t give to anyone. I was there; I know how it works,” he added.
