Alleged ₦110bn Fraud: Court issues public summons against Yahaya Bello

Justice Maryanne Anenih of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has issued a public summons for Yahaya Bello, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, to appear in court and respond to new allegations comprising 16 counts against him.

The summons requires the former governor to attend court on October 24 for his arraignment, alongside two other defendants.

The public summons was ordered by Justice Anenih following an application from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In her ruling, Justice Anenih instructed the EFCC to publish the public summons in a widely circulated newspaper. She also mandated that copies be posted at Bello’s last known address and in prominent locations on the court premises.

The EFCC stated that it had been unable to serve Bello with the charges filed on September 24, in which he and two others are accused of criminal breach of trust amounting to ₦110.4 billion.

The other defendants in this case are Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu.
