Alleged drug abuse: Senator Nwoko insists wife, Regina Daniels must undergo rehab, gives reasons

The senator representing Delta north, Ned Nwoko, says his wife actress Regina Daniels must undergo rehabilitation as a necessary step to address drug abuse and protect her overall safety.

In an interview with NAN on Sunday, Nwoko explained that this decision is essential for the 25-year-old actress to remain mentally and physically stable enough to care for their two children.

The lawmaker said he reached this conclusion after receiving several “alarming” toxicology reports that revealed “high levels of harmful substances in Daniels’ system”.

Nwoko noted that his wife’s formerly calm personality had changed in recent months, and she began displaying “violent and destructive behaviour” accompanied by recurring medical emergencies.

“I want her alive and healthy, not just for me, but for our children,” he said.

“We have two young kids together, and they cannot fight for themselves, so I’m going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother.

“Many people have died of drug overdose, and if anything happens to her now, what will I tell her children tomorrow?

“I have lived with this problem for eight months, and on three occasions, I had to carry her to Nizamiye Hospital unconscious from a drug overdose — you can go verify it.”

He stressed that rehabilitation would provide the environment she needs to recover, preventing access to drugs and helping her return to stability. Nwoko also displayed the toxicology results, insisting that anyone urging her to avoid proper medical help is “her real enemy and that of her children”.

According to him, the test results revealed multiple substances at toxic levels. He dismissed claims from Regina’s mother and siblings as “baseless distractions”.

“That is why I am saying that everybody has to calm down and join hands to save her,” Nwoko said.

“But she and her mother are living in denial. If they really want to prove me wrong, let them arrange for her to visit any toxicologist of their choice — I will pay.”

He further alleged that Daniels’ close friends and her brother Sammy were influencing her negatively and enabling her access to drugs.

“Her close relations and friends that I trusted around her are the ones exploiting her resources to supply her with drugs, leaving her addicted,” he said.

“Imagine the pain of a husband trying to help his wife recover from an addiction, only to have the process sabotaged by her siblings and friends. Each time progress was made, they would undo it by smuggling in the same drugs she was fighting to give up.”

Nwoko criticized a social media post by Daniels’ mother Rita, who alleged that his son died from a drug overdose in the United Kingdom. He described the accusation as “an inhuman attack on the dead”, stating that the autopsy revealed no drug-related cause.

The couple’s marital dispute has been public since October, following a viral video showing Daniels tearfully accusing Nwoko of domestic violence. The senator responded by alleging that his wife was dealing with drug and alcohol addiction.

Earlier today, Daniels acknowledged using hard drugs but accused Nwoko of initiating her addiction as part of a controlling pattern. She also claimed the lawmaker has possession of her private sex tape.
