Love Shimite, the special adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta state, on trade and export, is dead.

Shimite died in the early hours of Monday.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the sad development on Tuesday. According to Bright Edafe, the police spokesperson, the deceased’s husband called the police to report that his wife fell ill and died on Monday morning.

Edafe said Shimite’s husband informed the police that his wife’s family members are allegedly threatening his life for being responsible for the death.

The police spokesperson said an autopsy would be conducted to ascertain the actual cause of the deceased’s death.

“First, we don’t have any report of any confrontation with the husband. It was the husband who called the police this morning that his wife fell ill and died,” Edafe said.

“He said he is getting threats from the family of his wife and feared that they might attack him over the incident.

“We took him into protective custody. The body of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary awaiting autopsy.”

Edafe added that the deceased’s family had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that the husband might have played a role in Shimite’s death via food poisoning.

“For now, we are treating the case as a natural death. Since the family of the deceased has lodged a complaint against the husband, then we are going to go to autopsy,” he added.

Controversy has trailed the death of the deceased, as some reports alleged that she died of domestic violence.

However, the Delta police spokesperson said the domestic violence allegations are mere “social media propaganda,” which are false.
