Amaewhule-led Assembly gives Fubara seven days to re-present 2024 budget
The Rivers State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Martin Amaewhule, has issued a 7-day ultimatum to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to re-present the 2024 budget.
This order comes after the pro-Wike House held its first session on Monday after several months. Meanwhile, a parallel session is being conducted by the House faction led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.
Governor Fubara had previously presented the budget to the House faction loyal to him when Edison Ehie, now his Chief of Staff, was presiding as Speaker.
Ehie and the other pro-Fubara lawmakers passed the budget, and the governor signed it into law, stating that it aims to promote economic development, inclusive growth, and address socio-economic inequality in the state.
