The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps recently apprehended an 80-year-old man identified as Pa Michael and a 60-year-old man named Oladosu.
The two individuals were paraded for their alleged involvement in vandalizing equipment owned by the Ekiti State Water Corporation in Okemesi Ekiti, which is located in the Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state.
During the parade of the suspects, the Corps Commandant, Brig. Gen. Joe Komolafe (retd.), disclosed that Pa Michael and Oladosu were caught by Amotekun operatives in the act of vandalizing various pieces of equipment that belonged to the state water corporation.
In addition to this, the Amotekun operatives also arrested three other suspects for allegedly breaking into a residential house in the Tinuola area of Ado Ekiti, the capital of the state.
The suspects were identified as Rufai (26 years old), Ibrahim (30 years old), and Yahaya (30 years old). The arrests were made with the cooperation and support of the local residents in the area.
He said, “Our operatives in the early hours of Tuesday received a distress call from a member of the public that some suspected vandals had broken into a residential house in the area and vandalised a pumping machine installed in one of the houses in the area, following which they went into action.”
The corps commandant said the suspects would be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
He urged residents of the state not to hesitate in giving relevant information that would assist the corps in its intelligence and surveillance operations and as well assist in ridding the state of criminal activities.
