Amotekun arrests ‘serial’ POS fraudster in Osun

A 27-year-old serial fraudster Wasiu Oderinde has been arrested by men of Osun State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun after defrauding Point of Sale (POS) terminal operators in Southwest states.

The Nation reports that Oderinde, who is a father of two and a resident of Ilobu Community in Osun State, had been going about Southwest states since 2021 defrauding agents of N95,000 at all points.

It was learnt that POS agents in Ondo, Oyo and Osun states had put Oderinde’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card on red flag following his activities of fraud, thereby leading to his arrest on Monday in Modakeke Town.

A source who identified herself as Barakat Adeyanju disclosed that “Oderinde was arrested at Iraye Junction after his usual practice to defraud POS agent. He was lynched by a mob but Amotekun recused him and took him to their office in Modakeke. Many operators from Ibadan, Ikire Ife and other places stormed their office to demand their money from him.”

The Field Commander of Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu confirmed the incident to our correspondent, saying: “He is a serial fraudster who defrauded POS agents in Oyo, Osun, Ondo and some other states. We have arrested him and handed him over to a security agency for prosecution.”
