Anambra Killings: Soludo vows to fish out perpetrators

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged to bring those responsible for the recent killings in Nibo Community, Awka South Local Government Area, to justice.

The tragic incident, which occurred on October 20, 2024, is suspected to be linked to a violent clash between rival cult groups. Several individuals lost their lives.

Governor Soludo visited the community shortly after the incident to express his condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Nibo. During his visit to the Eke Nibo Market, while inspecting Monday activities across the state, he condemned the attack and promised to track down those involved in the crime. He also reiterated his administration’s determination to eradicate cultism in the state.

He urged residents to continue with their daily activities without fear, assuring them that the perpetrators would be found and held accountable, regardless of where they hide.

Governor Soludo further reassured the public of his administration’s commitment to their safety and well-being, emphasizing that no one would be left behind in matters of security and public welfare.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command has confirmed that it is actively investigating the incident to apprehend those behind the attack. According to the command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, five people were killed, and three others were seriously injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The police also criticized some relatives of the deceased for allegedly concealing evidence, withholding information, and disrupting the investigation.

Following the incident, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, led officers to the crime scene for an on-the-spot assessment and vowed to intensify efforts to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
