The Anambra State Government has uncovered 35 graves at a well-known hotel in Oba, Idemili South local government area, which was allegedly used for kidnapping and other criminal activities.
Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the state’s Deputy Governor, revealed that the graves and a shrine were found on the top floor of the two-story Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites.
He led the demolition team, noting that several disturbing items, including a shrine and live ammunition, were also discovered at the site.
Ibezim highlighted that the state’s Homeland Security Law, signed by the governor, has strengthened security operations, and any property used for criminal purposes will not only be demolished but also seized by the state government.
At the scene, our correspondent observed that many of the hotel rooms were in disarray, with spent bullets found in some. The hotel has since been demolished.
Ken Emeakyi, Special Adviser on Community Security to Governor Soludo, emphasized that the state government is committed to a sustained effort in tackling crime and criminality.
