Less than 24 hours after a fire at a market in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, destroyed goods and property worth millions of naira, another fire disaster has occurred.

This time, a petrol tanker explosion at the Tollgate area of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway caused significant damage, leaving property worth millions of naira in ruins.

The explosion, which reportedly began around 3 p.m. near Lead City University Road, resulted in heavy losses for business owners and vehicle owners in the vicinity.

Akinyinka Akinyemi, the Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and highlighted the joint efforts of the state and federal fire services in containing the blaze. However, the fire had already caused substantial damage before it was extinguished.

Although the extent of the destruction is still being assessed, no casualties have been reported at the time of filing this report. Several vehicles and motorcycles parked along the road were also destroyed in the incident.
