The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared the party’s goal to reclaim Rivers State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by 2027.
Ganduje made this announcement in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of the state working committee on Saturday.
He was joined by senior party officials who pledged their support for the new executive team in the state.
Addressing the gathering, the APC’s National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Victor Giadom, emphasized the party’s determination to secure victory in Rivers State.
Despite questions surrounding the legality of the process, the inauguration proceeded, with the party’s National Legal Adviser administering the oath of office to the newly inaugurated executive.
In his vote of thanks, the Exco leader commended his team for their efforts thus far.
However, Ganduje stressed that the party’s primary focus is to bring Rivers State under APC control, increasing the party’s tally in the South-South to three states.
While the Tony Okocha-led Exco is recognized by the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC), a court ruling upholding Emeka Beke as the state chairman remains unresolved, casting uncertainty on how this dispute might impact the party’s plans ahead of 2025.
