APC fixes Feb 17 for Edo guber primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday, released the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2024 Edo governorship election, fixing next month, February 17, as date to conduct the party’s primary.

The schedule of activities was issued after a marathon meeting by the party’s national leadership, the National Working Committee (NWC).

The party said the release was in compliance with the relevant sections of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria & Electoral Act.

According to timetable, the notice of election to the state chapter was issued on Monday, while the update of membership register for only members whose names appear on the register and are up to date in the payment of their membership dues over the past one year will be eligible to vote and be voted for, will commence from Wednesday January 10 and end February 8.

The schedule of activities further disclosed that sale of expression of interest and nomination forms and delegates forms will commence on Wednesday this week and end Monday 29, while February 27 will be the deadline for submission of completed governorship nomination forms and accompanying documents in addition to submission of delegates forms.

Screening of aspirants, delegate Congress and publication of screening results will take place on February 5 to 8, February 10 and 12 respectively.

Screening appeal, delegate Congress appeal, party primary and primary election appeal, according to the schedule by the ruling party will take place on February 13, 12, 17 and 18 respectively.

The submission of list of nominated candidate, publication of final list of candidates, commencement of campaign by the candidates and the grand finale will take place March 4- 24, April 23, 24 and September 19 respectively.

“The total amount for nomination forms is N50 million, female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities (PWD), aspirants are to purchase the N10 million expression of interest form while the nomination form is free.

“Youth -25 to 40 years are to purchase the expression of interest form with a 50 per cent discount of the nomination form. Expression of interest form and nomination form will be available for purchase at the Directorate of Organisation at the party’s headquarters in Abuja,” the correspondence signed by National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Mohammad Argungu disclosed.
