The All Progressives Congress (APC) has moved its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally slated for Thursday, 24 July 2025, from the party’s national secretariat to the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced the venue change in a statement on Wednesday, citing logistical reasons for the decision.
“The APC wishes to inform the public that its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled for Thursday, 24 July 2025, will now hold at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja. This change from the party’s National Secretariat at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja, is due to logistical considerations,” the statement read.
In preparation for the NEC meeting, APC governors held a closed-door session in Abuja on Wednesday. The meeting took place at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge and was hosted by Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.
Among the attendees were Governors Babagana Zulum (Borno), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Monday Okpebholo (Edo). Others present included Bassey Otu (Cross River), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Uba Sani (Kaduna).
While the official agenda remains undisclosed, speculation suggests discussions will likely focus on selecting a new National Chairman. The position became vacant in June following Abdullahi Ganduje’s resignation, who cited health concerns and a desire to step back from active politics.
Acting National Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori is expected to present updates on the party’s electronic membership registration across all 36 states, propose a timetable for congresses, and seek approval for standing committee appointments.
