Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Ishaku Elisha Abbo has condemned the decision of a State High Court sitting in Yola to deny him re-election.

NewsClick Nigeria reports that the court, in a judgment delivered on Tuesday by the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Danladi, held that Abbo could not seek nomination or re-election under the party owing to his expulsion from his ward.

According to the judge, the embattled Senator and the APC are bound by the resolution of Mubi North Local Government Executives dated October 7, 2022, which expelled him for alleged anti-party activities. Abbo had been expelled from the council for his criticism and opposition to the APC’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

Justice Danladi also barred the senator from presenting himself as the party’s candidate for the senatorial district, emphasizing that he is not entitled to any of the rights or privileges accorded to APC members.

Senator Abbo responded to the ruling in a statement on Wednesday, calling it a “cash and carry judgement” because those who allegedly expelled him from the party are not local government party executives and thus lack the authority to do so.

Senator stated that he would file an appeal in the Court of Appeal and thus urged his supporters to remain calm.
