APC suspends six directors at National Secretariat

Six directors at the All Progressives Congress’s National Secretariat have been suspended by the party’s Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee.

Finance, Legal Administration, Publicity, Welfare, and Organization are all affected.

The action follows the recommendation of a Transition Committee established immediately following the inauguration of the Adamu-led National Working Committee.

Abdullahi Adamu had hinted at an investigation into the National Secretariat upon taking office.

One of the reasons given in the Transition Committee’s recommendations for the Directors’ dismissal is the alleged high-level corruption at the National Secretariat.

For instance, it was alleged that the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee left over N20 billion in the party’s coffers before the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee, CECPC, took power nearly two years ago.

When the current National Working Committee took over following the March 26 National Convention, the party’s account was said to be empty.

The Transition Committee has placed the blame for financial irresponsibility and high-level corruption squarely on the Directors.

Another reason cited for the suspension of the Directors is a perceived lack of equity in the distribution of Directorates across all geopolitical zones.

Prior to the latest action, there were only two Directors from the North-West State of Kano.

There are strong indications that the services of the Directors will be terminated in the coming days.
