The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) has declared the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winners of the local government elections held yesterday.
In an announcement made at the KWSIEC headquarters in Ilorin earlier today, the Commission’s Chairman, Baba Okanla, confirmed that the APC secured all sixteen chairmanship positions across the Local Government Areas and won all 193 councilorship seats.
He noted that the election took place across the state’s sixteen Local Government Areas and 193 wards, with five political parties participating: APC, APM, PDP, SDP, and Accord.
Okanla praised the political parties for their dedication to a peaceful election, which was conducted without major incidents, and commended the people of Kwara State for turning out in large numbers to exercise their civic rights.
He also thanked the security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the voting process in a professional manner.
