The Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC) on Sunday declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of Saturday’s Local Government (LG) and Councilorship elections held across the state’s 34 LGAs.
The election was contested by five political parties: Accord (A), African Action Congress (AAC), African Development Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Booth Party (BP).
Announcing the results, KTSIEC Chairman Lawal Faskari explained that the collation could not be completed on election day as some local governments submitted their results late.
With all results now received, the Commission finalised the collation and declared the APC victorious in all 34 Local Government Areas, winning both chairmanship and councillorship positions by wide margins.
Faskari commended the dedication of the ad-hoc staff, praising their efficiency and adherence to the election timeline. He also recognised the efforts of the Commission’s management and members for their professionalism.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to party chairmen, election observers, and other stakeholders for their support in ensuring a smooth electoral process.
