APC wins Nasarawa North senatorial by-election as Maku, PDP trail

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza of the All Progressives Congress winner of the Nasarawa North Senatorial by-election.

The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Aminu Ali, announced the result on Sunday at the College of Education, Akwanga.

According to the results declared, Danladi secured 45,362 votes to emerge victorious in the poll.

His closest challenger, Labaran Maku of the Labour Party, polled 12,931 votes, while Emmanuel David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party garnered 11,331 votes.

Other candidates recorded the following results:

  • Mohammed Stephen Alaku of the African Democratic Congress — 4,244 votes.
  • Ishaya Dubai Dodo of the National Democratic Coalition Party — 1,496 votes.

However, several political parties are said to be contesting the outcome of the election, raising objections to the declared results.
