APGA wins all 21 LGAs in Anambra LG poll

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secured a sweeping victory in the September 28, 2024, local government elections in Anambra State, winning all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state’s 21 local government areas and 326 wards.

During a press briefing on Sunday, the Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Genevieve Osakwe, announced that APGA candidates claimed all 21 chairmanship seats and all 326 councillorship positions, as confirmed at the ward level.

Osakwe described the election as the fairest and noted that the commission thoroughly collated and analyzed the results to ensure accuracy.

She provided details on the total votes received by the APGA candidates and declared them winners based on the highest number of votes cast.

Osakwe also commended the people of Anambra State for their impressive voter turnout and thanked security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the electoral process.

According to the ANSIEC Chairman, “This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councillorship election held on September 28, 2024. The commission carefully collated and analysed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes. We ensured all scores and parties were announced at the polling units yesterday. We are here, today, to affirm the results as recorded. The election held at all polling units across Anambra State on September 28 was free, fair, and credible.”

Apart from APGA officials and party agents, no representatives from opposition political parties were present at the ANSIEC office when the results were announced.
