Two commercial motorcyclists, also known as Okada riders, have been killed in the Akoko area of northern Ondo State by suspected armed robbers.
In one incident in Arigidi Akoko, located in the Akoko North West Local Government area, the mutilated body of 28-year-old Dada Jatto was discovered near the Arigidi community along Okeagbe Road, three days after he went missing. His motorcycle remains unaccounted for.
In another case, an Okada rider was lured to a location between Ikare and Arigidi Akoko, where robbers attacked him, smashed his head, and stole his motorcycle.
The injured rider was rushed to a nearby hospital but later died. His motorcycle was subsequently recovered in Akunu Akoko, a town near the Kogi State border.
Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incidents and stated that an investigation has been launched to apprehend those responsible for the killings.
