Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), operating under Sector 3, have captured a key Boko Haram logistics courier named Garba Buda in Guzamala, Borno State.

The 30-year-old suspect had been on the MNJTF’s wanted list for some time due to his pivotal role in providing logistical support to the terrorist group.

In a statement released on Friday by the Chief Military Information Officer of MNJTF HQ in N’djamena, Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, it was revealed that Buda had been under close surveillance through human intelligence and monitoring efforts. His arrest occurred during transit in Monguno town, following a successful intelligence operation.

Buda’s capture is seen as a major setback for Boko Haram’s activities in the Lake Chad region, as he was responsible for moving supplies between Monguno and the Southern Tumbus area of Lake Chad.

Items recovered from the suspect include a lighter, pocket mirror, comb, cap, and wristwatch.

He is currently in custody and undergoing a detailed profiling investigation, according to the statement.

In a separate operation, MNJTF forces raided a Boko Haram/ISWAP enclave in Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State, disrupting the group’s activities. The terrorists reportedly fled, abandoning their supplies, which were subsequently destroyed by the troops.

“This successful operations represent a significant step forward in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region, demonstrating the commitment of security forces to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure the safety of the local population,” he added.
