The Nigerian Army announced on Thursday that its troops nabbed the perpetrator responsible for the killing of Dorathy Jonathan in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State.
Jonathan tragically lost her life on Friday, September 1, while gathering firewood in Afana village, Zango Kataf Local Government Area.
The military stated that the apprehension aligns with the dedication of Major General AE Abubakar, the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), to ensuring that all wrongdoers in Southern Kaduna face justice.
The suspect, Lot Dauda, confessed to committing the crime with an accomplice who is still on the run. He was arrested after a manhunt by troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), who acted on reliable information.
Dauda admitted to investigators that he attacked Jonathan while she was working in a field and attempted to rape her. When she fought back, he murdered her.
The army is still searching for the other suspect, and Dauda will be prosecuted once the investigation is over.
