The Nigerian Army has rescued 10 women abducted from their farmlands in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State and recovered ₦1.6 million believed to be part of the ransom the kidnappers intended to collect.

The development was disclosed on Friday in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

Makama reported that the victims were seized on November 29 in Ungwan Nungu, leading to several days of intensive search operations by troops of 1 Division under Operation FANSAN YANMA.

Makama said the troops made contact with the kidnappers around 6:40 a.m. on Friday while the criminals were attempting to receive ransom money from the victims’ relatives.

The soldiers reportedly engaged the kidnappers with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the women and flee.

During the operation, troops recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition, and ₦1.6 million believed to be part of the ransom.

All 10 rescued women have since been debriefed and reunited with their families, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
