The Nigerian Army reports a significant increase in farm produce in Zamfara State compared to previous years, attributing this improvement to the efforts of the troops in ensuring security for farmers.
Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, the Commander of One Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Gusau, disclosed this information during a Juma’at prayer held as part of the events commemorating the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State.
“It is on record that farm produce in Zamfara has increased this last farming season much more than what was obtained in the last ten years,” he said.
He committed to the ongoing dedication of the troops in combating security challenges affecting the nation, aiming to preserve Nigeria’s unity.
Brigadier General Ahmed acknowledged the considerable risks faced by soldiers while escorting farmers to their fields, resulting in casualties from criminal attacks. Despite these challenges, he highlighted that the soldiers draw motivation from the gratitude expressed by the people they safeguard.
He emphasized the Armed Forces’ unwavering readiness to make sacrifices, including laying down their lives, to defend vulnerable Nigerians from the enemies of the country.
