ASUU: Kwara government provides free transportation for students

The Kwara State Government has provided free transportation to all interested students of tertiary institutions in the Northern region of the country upon the start of academic activities as a sign of its favorable disposition toward the predicament of students.

This comes after the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ eight-month industrial action was put on hold.

At a meeting on Monday in Ilorin, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Alabi Abolore, revealed this.

A statement signed by a Press Secretary in the ministry, Mansurat Amuda-kannike, made available on Tuesday to the press, said, “The Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led Administration is extending the dividends of democracy to Kwara State Students in tertiary institutions across the country.”

According to him, worried students traveling to the North must show up for a quick documentation the day of their departure at the Ministry of Tertiary Education’s facilities at Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin, on Saturday, October 29, 2022, by 6:30am.

The commissioner further revealed that, as soon as a potential beneficiary registers on the web portal, the Ministry will have finished disbursing bursaries.

“On behalf of my Ministry, parents/guardians and great Nigerian students, we say a very big thank you, Your Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for yet another awesome magnanimity and show of sincerity in taking Kwara of our dream to the promised land”, Abolore added.
