ASUU: Minister, VCs, others commence closed-door meeting

Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, has convened a special closed-door meeting with all vice chancellors and pro chancellors of federal universities to discuss the Academic Staff Union’s protracted strike.

Participants of the closed door meeting include the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede; Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Professor Abubakar Rasheed; Emeritus Professors Peter Okebukola and Nimi-Briggs.

“I will like to ask respectfully that the gentlemen of the press excuse us so that we can start our deliberations”, Adamu Adamu had said.

The minister bemoaned earlier attempts by the government to get ASUU to end its strike but to no avail.

ASUU had gone on strike on Monday, February 14, 2022 as a result of what the union claimed was the government’s refusal to satisfy its demands.
