The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Abidemi Oyetunji Olanipekun and other stakeholders of Osogboland have commended President Bola Tinubu for approving reconstruction of two road projects leading to Osogbo, the state capital.
The projects are: the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road and the Osogbo–Akoda–Gbongan Road.
This was contained in an appreciation statement signed by the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe (Rtd), and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Thursday 7th May 2026.
The stakeholders described the strategic road projects as immensely important to the economic growth and infrastructural development of Osogbo and its surrounding communities, noting that their reconstruction will significantly improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
The Osogbo stakeholders also extended heartfelt gratitude to the immediate past Governor of the state and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for his pivotal role in facilitating the approval of the projects.
They particularly acknowledged and commended Oyetola’s efforts in securing the inclusion of the Osogbo axis in the Gbongan–Akoda Road project.
Originally designed as a 29-kilometre stretch, the expansion to 57.9 kilometres to accommodate the Osogbo leg was described as a thoughtful and impactful intervention that will benefit a larger population.
According to the stakeholders, the reconstruction of the roads is expected to significantly boost business activities, promote commerce, and attract investment into Osogbo and its environs, thereby strengthening the economic base of the region.
