Former senator and PDP chieftain Dino Melaye claimed that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president, was unknown to the general public until Atiku Abubakar, a member of the PDP, discovered him.

Melaye claimed that Atiku has uncovered every reformer who had emerged in the nation since 1999.

The senator gave a speech at a gathering Diamond Ladies in Politics, a women’s political organization, organized in Abuja over the weekend.

Melaye said, “Obi is a fantastic Nigerian, but he was not known nationally until Atiku identified him. Atiku is a talent hunter. Everyone who was a reformer in this country from 1999 till date was a discovery of Atiku.

“Atiku discovered Obi before keyboard warriors discovered Obi. Unfortunately, elections are not going to take place on social media. It is going to take place at the polling units. And those that would vote are the people here. So it is now operation votes must count.”

The former senator, who was honored at the ceremony, added that Bola Tinubu, the other candidates for president of the ruling All Progressives Congress, and others, lack the necessary foundation to be compared to Atiku.

“Unfortunately, both of them are very wealthy, but there is a difference. Atiku is a billionaire with enterprise, while Tinubu is a billionaire without enterprise. He has a history of a physical business in agriculture, education, oil and gas, media, manufacturing, and banking,” Melaye said.

Speaking at the ceremony through his daughter Hajia Maryam Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate appealed for support from the massive youth and female populations in the nation, promising that her father would reorganize the nation if awarded the presidency in the 2023 election.

Princess Maimunat Wada, leader of the Diamond Ladies in Politics, committed to secure at least two million votes for the presidential candidate during her remarks.

She made the case that if the PDP candidate were elected in 2023 despite the dire circumstances in the nation, which are at an all-time high of low self-confidence and severe hardship for Nigerians.

“With Atiku Abubakar on the saddle of leadership of the country, there would be inclusiveness of Nigerians irrespective of their tribal and religious affiliations,” she noted.
