Former Super Eagles player, Brown Ideye, emerged as the hero yesterday, leading bottom-placed Enyimba FC to a 4-1 victory over Mozambique’s Black Bulls in their Group D clash of the Confederation Cup.
It was Match Day 4 of the second-tier continental competition, a title that no Nigerian club has ever won.
Ideye, who joined the Peoples Elephants last week, opened the scoring for Enyimba with a brilliant dribble past the visiting goalkeeper after receiving a pass from Benedict Atule.
Atule scored twice, including a goal in the 90th minute, sparking a night of celebration for Enyimba fans.
The victory at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo may have kept Enyimba’s slim qualification hopes alive, following two losses and one draw at home in the first three group matches.
