Auto crash claims corps member, one other in Katsina

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) stationed at Government Girls’ College in Katsina, Mamudo Sa’idu Obaje, tragically lost his life in a car accident at Gayaza in the Kankia Local Government Area of the state.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday, 4th January 2024, when the deceased, along with another passenger, met their untimely demise while traveling from Kaduna to Katsina.

Mamudo Sa’idu Obaje, identified by NYSC Service Number: KT/23B/1153, was en route to fulfill his monthly biometric clearance.

The entire National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) community is in grief due to this tragic event. In a statement released on Tuesday, the Katsina State NYSC Management, through its Public Relations Officer, Eddy Megwa, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased corps member. The statement acknowledged the loss of the dedicated patriot who met his end while serving his country actively.

Contrary to speculations, the NYSC spokesperson, Megwa, clarified that the unfortunate incident was not a result of banditry, dispelling any rumors surrounding the circumstances of the corps members’ deaths.

“From all indications, the story is untrue, but a figment of the baseless imagination of the mischievous writer, who wanted to cause unnecessary unrest among members of the public,” the statement added.

“The NYSC therefore, wishes to once again call on bloggers to always be factual in their reportage in order not to cause unnecessary apprehension in the society, because of fictitious and unprofessional publications, which contradicts the ethics of good journalism.”
