Two final-year students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and their driver were killed in a fiery auto crash on Wednesday evening near Ojutu Bridge in Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State.
It is reported that five other students were injured in the single-vehicle accident. According to reports, it was learned that the students were returning from a field trip to Erin-Ijesa waterfall.
Confirming the incident, Mrs. Elizabeth Arowosafe, the Head of Operations for Osun Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (OSEMSAS), stated that the injured victims were swiftly transported to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital for medical attention by OSEMSAS personnel.
She further explained that the driver of the white MAZDA bus attempted to evade some individuals in the vicinity of the accident site, leading to a somersault due to excessive speed.
Additionally, in a statement released yesterday, Agnes Ogungbemi, the spokesperson for the Osun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), also affirmed the fatal crash. She noted that the driver had violated the speed limit and engaged in dangerous over-speeding.
