Governor Dauda Lawal has informed the World Bank that his administration is making steady progress in combating banditry in Zamfara State.
During an official visit to the World Bank office in Abuja on Friday, the governor stated that attacks on highways, villages, and cities were now under control.
“We are gradually winning the war against criminals, and life is returning to our communities,” Lawal said, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris.
The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Zamfara State government and the World Bank.
Lawal reiterated his commitment to collaboration, highlighting his administration’s alignment with the World Bank’s mission to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development.
He acknowledged past security challenges that had hindered project implementation but noted that progress was being made.
“Our administration is committed to ensuring security by enhancing patrols, implementing strategic measures, and supporting security agencies,” he said.
World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Dr Ndiamé Diop, praised the governor’s efforts, stating, “I am impressed by the system you have put in place. Congratulations on achieving such feats in such a short time.”
