Bandits abduct district head, six others in Kaduna village attack

The district head of Garu Kurama in the Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Yakubu Jadi, along with six other residents of Gurzan Kurama village, has been kidnapped by bandits.

Among the victims are the catechist of the local Catholic church and the district head’s daughter.

Although the police in Kaduna State have yet to confirm the incident, the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) released a statement through its public relations officer, Josiah Abraks, stating that the district head and the other victims were abducted on the night of Friday, August 23rd.

SOKAPU also noted that the bandits have not yet made contact with the families of the abducted community members.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, alarming, and worrisome, SOKAPU called on security agencies and relevant authorities to make every effort to ensure the swift and safe release of the victims.

The organization also urged the Federal Government to strengthen its efforts to protect the lives and property of its citizens, and encouraged communities to be more vigilant and organized in monitoring unusual activity in their areas, reporting any suspicious movements to the proper authorities.
