Bandits kill 23, abduct many in Giwa, Kaduna state

Bandits have killed 23 villagers and injured many more in two villages in Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area.

This is the fourth bandit raid in a week in villages within the local government area.

Anguwar Maiwa and Anguwar Kanwa were among the villages targeted by the attackers. The bandits attacked the villages at 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, according to an eyewitness.

“The bandits were seen regrouping on motorbikes as early as 5pm Monday evening and security agents were duly informed.

“However, the bandits still proceeded to unleash their mayhem,” he said.

The eyewitness said 22 dead bodies had been discovered with the help of security operatives out of the 23 said to have been killed and subsequently buried.

He said the security operatives had also succeeded in neutralising some of the bandits and recovered some kidnapped victims.

“I cannot say how many were rescued, but I know some of them were rescued and bandits neutralised,” he stated.

The Kaduna State Police Command, Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalinge, was yet to be reached at the time of filing the report.
