Bandits kill four, abduct 18 in Sokoto

Police officials in Sokoto State have verified an incident of banditry in Giyawa village, Goronyo Local Government Area, situated in the eastern senatorial district of the state, resulting in the unfortunate loss of four lives.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ahmed Rufai, the attackers initially abducted eighteen individuals and also looted valuable items, including livestock.

He made known that seven of the abductees escaped and returned to their community, where many residents had fled for safety.

While some sources from the impacted community suggested that more than thirty individuals were taken, the police asserted that only eleven people remained in the custody of the assailants.
