Bandits kill four, abduct 18 others in Sokoto

Suspected armed bandits are said to have launched a raid in Giyawa village, Goronyo Local Government Area, killing four people and kidnapping eighteen others.

Goronyo is one of the local governments of Sokoto State’s troublesome Eastern Senatorial District.

While confirming the incidence, Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ahmed Rufai, stated that the assailant initially abducted eighteen people.

He further stated that seven of the kidnapped individuals escaped and returned to their neighbourhood, where many residents have fled for safety.
Though some reports in the affected neighbourhood stated that over thirty people had been taken, authorities maintained that just eleven people remained with the perpetrators.

Though other sources from the affected community claimed that over thirty persons were abducted, but the police maintained that only eleven persons were still with the attackers.
He assured that the police are on the trail of the assailants and are making efforts to ensure normalcy is restored in the affected community and environment.
