Bandits have tragically killed Dr. Tiri Gyan David, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.

Dr. Tiri Gyan David, who served as the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at the university, fell victim to a fresh bandit attack early Tuesday morning.

According to an eyewitness speaking to Channels Television via phone, the attack occurred around 1:30 am at the lecturer’s residence in Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the community, firing shots indiscriminately to intimidate residents. The eyewitness also reported that the criminals abducted two of the lecturer’s children during the raid.

Abubakar Sadiq, spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed the incident and indicated that a comprehensive statement on the matter would soon be released by the command.

Despite concerted efforts by the state government and security agencies, Dutsinma remains one of the ten security frontline local government areas grappling with near-daily bandit attacks, highlighting ongoing challenges in restoring peace to the state.
