Armed bandits abducted the district head of Kanya, Isah Daya, on Saturday in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The assailants attacked his village, killing one person, injuring three others, and kidnapping eight more. The Kebbi State Police spokesperson, Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Sherrif Alhaji Almu.
A joint security team, led by the police, has launched a manhunt to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the abducted individuals. Abubakar also stated that the Kebbi State Government has provided the necessary logistics to combat banditry in the affected areas, particularly in Kebbi South and the Zuru Emirate.
This attack follows the recent killing of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area by bandits.
