The Idemili North Local Government Secretariat in Ogidi, Anambra, as well as a Magistrates’ court, have been set on fire by suspected bandits.
According to sources, the arsonists set fire to the building on Sunday night.
They allegedly set fire to all files and property in the secretariat, including the building itself.
The entire buildings were reduced to rubble in videos and photographs of the incident that circulated online.
Inside the local government secretariat, vehicles were also burned to ashes.
The state police command’s spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the event and blamed it on unknown criminals.
Ikenga said, “Yes, the incident was confirmed, and our men were there to restore normalcy.
“Right now, the fire has been put off, and calm has been restored to the area.”
