The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has officially renamed the well-known ‘Charly Boy’ bus stop in honour of renowned rapper and singer Olamide Adedeji, popularly called Badoo.

The outgoing council chairman, Kolade Alabi David, announced the renaming on Friday, explaining that the decision was part of ongoing efforts to celebrate individuals who have made Bariga proud and enhanced Nigeria’s global reputation through their talent and contributions.

“As an administration, we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the global map through their respective God-given talents and craft, as well as eminent personalities in our Nation and our beloved state and Local Council who have contributed immensely to the development of our Nation and our State,” he said. “Today, we will be officially renaming streets in honour of the legacies.”

Alabi further revealed that Ilaje Road has been renamed in honour of legendary Juju musician, King Sunny Adé.

Olamide, a native of Bariga, is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential music stars, with a career spanning over a decade.

Other renamed streets include:
