Bauchi election tribunal receives 45 petitions from aggrieved candidates, political parties

A total of 45 petitions regarding the recently ended governorship, national, and state house of assembly elections have been filed with the Bauchi State Election Petition Tribunal by disgruntled candidates and political parties.

This can be found in the list of petitions posted at the tribunal on Thursday.

Four of the petitions, according to the document, contest the announcement that Gov. Bala Mohammed won the state’s governorship election on March 18.

The New Nigeria People’s Party, which has Senator Halliru Jika running for governor, and the All Progressives Congress, which has Sadique Abubakar, a former chief of the air staff, running for governor, are among the petitioners.

Others included the People’s Redemption Party and it’s governorship candidate, Ahmed Umar-Farouk and the Allied Peoples’ Movement.

Additionally, 10 petitions were for the House of Representatives, 10 were for the State House of Assembly election, and 5 were for the Senate election, which was held on February 25 and March 18, respectively.

It was evident that petitions regarding the elections for the Shira/Giade, Katagum, Zaki, Jama’are/Itas, Ningi/Warji, and Bauchi Federal Constituencies had been submitted to the tribunal.

Others were Ganjuwa/Darazo; Misau/Dambam, Alkaleri/Kirfi and Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Gederal Constituencies elecions.

While three petitions were challenging the Bauchi North Senatorial District election, one each for the Bauchi Central and Bauchi South Senatorial District elections, respectively.
