Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, removing three commissioners from the State Executive Council and forwarding new nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, announced the changes in a statement on Friday, describing the move as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery in the state.

According to the statement, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Investment, Mohammed Salis Gamawa, and the immediate past Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Rimin Zayam, who was later redeployed to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology, have been relieved of their appointments.

Governor Mohammed also accepted the resignation of the former Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, Faruk Mustapha.

“As part of the adjustments, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Investment, Mohammed Salis Gamawa, and the immediate past Commissioner for Education, who was subsequently reassigned to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology, Dr. Lawal Rimin Zayam, are to exit the State Executive Council with immediate effect. The Governor has also accepted the resignation of the former Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, Faruk Mustapha,” Gidado said.

He added that the governor had forwarded the names of their proposed replacements, alongside other nominees to fill existing vacancies in the cabinet, to the Bauchi State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

“In line with the administration’s commitment to ensuring continuity and efficiency in governance, the names of their proposed replacements, alongside those of other nominees intended to fill vacancies created by the earlier exit of some commissioners, have been forwarded to the Bauchi State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation,” the statement added.

The governor thanked the outgoing commissioners for their service and contributions to the development of Bauchi State.

Gidado said Mohammed wished them success in their future endeavours and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a more responsive, efficient and results-driven government for the people of the state.
