In a fast political house run, Ibrahim Kashim, who won the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Bauchi State governorship ticket, has stood down in favor of the state’s incumbent governor, Bala Mohammad.

In an inner caucus conference held by stakeholders to plot the way forward, Kashim proposed to step aside for the incumbent governor, according to insiders.

The former Secretary to the State Government resigned earlier this year to run for governor of the state as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, ran for President in the primaries but was defeated.

On Monday, May 20th, 2022, Kashim was elected as the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate. In an unexpected turn of events, he stood down to allow his supervisor, Mr Mohammed, to continue the captainship he had started in the state.

“In Nigerian politics, integrity is a word thrown around loosely, while actualisation of its value is few and far between. Integrity is to do the right thing at the right time, every single time, and this is a value that Ibrahim Kashim embodies,” Kashim tweeted Wednesday morning.

Kashim believes that effective governance that leads to long-term, positive growth demands a stretch of continuity in policy and program implementation, even to a larger capacity. He stated that he would do it all over again for the sake of our state’s prosperity.

He emphasized his commitment to continue supporting in the realization of Bauchi State’s development goals.

“The sequence of events, as well as Sen. Bala Muhammad’s and Barr. Ibrahim’s unity, integrity, and teamwork will go down in history as a “new leadership paradigm” worth adopting by other politicians and leaders.”
